A lead carpenter comes out, walks the yard with you, checks grade, drainage and where the ledger meets the house, and talks through boards, railings and how you actually want to use the deck.

You get one flat-rate price on paper, itemized by framing, decking and railings, with the material brand and board color named. No allowances that balloon later, no verbal numbers.

Permit and materials lined up1-3 weeks out

We pull the deck permit with the city, order your specific boards and hardware, and confirm the build week with you before anything shows up. Delivery drops on your driveway a day or two ahead.

We build your decktypically 1-2 weeks on site

The same crew frames footings to final board, sets code-met railings and stairs, and stays through the city inspection. You get a photo update at the end of each working day.

02How deep are the footings, and why that depth?

03Is this permitted, and will it pass rail code?

Railing height and baluster spacing are child-safety numbers, not suggestions. A pro quotes them from memory.

04What hardware and fasteners, exactly?

Modern treated lumber eats cheap screws. Hot-dipped or stainless is a spec worth two extra words on the quote.

05For composite: which line, and what’s underneath?

No. Written estimates for every service and commercial plans are always free, we visit, measure, talk through stains and finishes, and email you a clear, itemized quote with no obligation.

How soon can you start?+

Most estimates go out within a day, and typical projects are scheduled within one to two weeks. For urgent renews, before a move, a sale or an event, just tell us the date and we'll do our best to fit you in.

What does “free estimates” mean?+

Before any work begins, we give you one clear quote to approve, prep, materials and labor included. No hourly meter, no surprise add-ons at the end. You always decide before we start.

What should I do before the build?+

Pick the doors we should protect and tell us about sprinklers before we dig. Layout, permits and the neighbor's fence line are our homework.

Do I need a permit for a deck?+

Usually yes above a certain height and size in Portland, we know the thresholds, pull the permit and meet the inspector.

Can you price over the phone?+

A realistic range from size and material. The quote needs the free walkthrough, slopes and what the house can carry decide too much.

How long does a deck take?+

Most builds run one to two weeks including inspections, resurfaces less. The written schedule lands before the first footing.
